Hurricanes are usually given a name because it helps in forecasting, tracking and reporting. Hurricanes are usually not names until they have steady winds of at least 65 km/h. Committees of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) pick the names of the Hurricanes. Once a hurricane is named, it is not renamed.
